As supportive as friends and family may claim to be, it is increasingly HARD to find support when you need it. WHY?! Why would someone say they support you, and then fail to give you the support you NEED when you want to make change (whether it's a job change, health change, sex change...whatever the case)?
There's a simple answer to this...
People are afraid of change, and they expect you to be as well. And don't forget- they love you as you ARE. They don't want to change you, and don't feel the need for you to change!
However, the time may come in your life when you want to seek change. Maybe you want to do a complete career shift. Maybe you found your passion in baking and want to open a shop. Maybe you want to lose weight, or compete in a body building competition.
How do you find the support you need?
Here's what I found helps:
1. Join a support group
There are people going after the exact same goals you have. No matter what your goal is, you are not alone. I've found the best way to find a support group is through Facebook. Do you have PCOS? Look up groups for PCOS. Do you want to own your own business? Search for business owners groups. Do you want to lose weight? Search for fitness groups (there's an awesome group HERE. If you request to join, I'll message you and we can chat!)
2. Explain yourself
Sit down with your loved ones and explain to them what this means to you. What changes are you looking for? How do you think this will change your life? What support are you looking for from them? If they understand a little better, you will receive more support :)
3. Support yourself
Support yourself in the ways you would like your family to support you. Love yourself. Encourage yourself. Pick up a book about boosting self-esteem, or running your own business, or finding happiness. Boost your brain and your future.
