You will need to be certified to teach in China. Click the button below to get your certification for only $19!
Step 1: Fill out your profile
Apply here. Once you are connected to me as a referral, feel free to reach out to me in the app, or I will reach out to you. My name in the app is Jillian S. I'll make sure to answer all of your questions so that you can WOW the Palfish team in your interview!
I WANT you to get hired! You’ll also have direct access to me through the PalFish app for any help you might need, or any questions you have.
Step 2: Schedule your interview
Next, you’ll want to schedule your interview. Make sure you schedule it for a time you can perform your best, and with enough time to prepare. (Which is step 3!)
Step 3: Prepare
Great! Your interview is scheduled! This means you have access to the classroom. I encourage you to enter and practice as many times as you like, until you feel comfortable. Play with the slides, learn the songs, practice your TPR and involvement of props. Pretend that you are teaching a class to a child with no English skills, and wait for their responses. Practice introducing yourself and ask for their name. Download the filters so they will be available to you, and practice using them. Watch as many YouTube videos on TPR as you can, and SMILE!
Step 4: Interview
You’re ready! You’re probably nervous and may not feel like you’re ready, but if you’ve come this far and followed these steps, you’re as ready as you’ll ever be! Log in a few minutes early, and wait for the timer to say 0. It’s now recording! Introduce yourself, and start the lesson. Act like you’re teaching a small child who doesn’t speak English. Smile, use TPR, have fun, pace yourself so that the “child” has time to “respond.” Make a few corrections (act like they said “mouth” wrong, and kindly correct the pronunciation). Give them stars (this function doesn’t actually work in the classroom, so pretend).
When you’re done with the time that they suggested for the interview, tell the “child” it’s time to go, they did a good job, and say good bye. Exit the class.
1. Remove visible body piercings
2. Cover tattoos
3. Look professional- clean, awake, and nice.
4. Wear a blue shirt! You’re going to need to do this for your actual classes anyways, show them you’re ready to work!
5. Prepare a background. Print out a PalFish logo here for free.
Note: You only have one chance to pass. Please prepare. Once you have passed, you will have to complete a short (and easy!) quiz. You’ll be a teacher soon after!
