I'm not one to support "fad diets" and "lose weight quick" schemes. Quite frankly, I hope that the word "diet" never comes out of your mouth. It's a dirty word.... diets fail. Diets don't help you reach your goals PERMANENTLY, and that's what we really aim for. The last thing I want to see is you pick up a "fad diet" that you can't hold on to long term. When that happens, you'll lose weight... and then gain it back as soon as you quit.
But there ARE a few tips to help you lose weight quickly. Why would I want you to do that?
Well....losing a few pounds is EMPOWERING, and can help set you up for future success.
Tip #1: Drink More Water
I get it. Water sucks, water is boring. That Dr. Pepper in your fridge tastes way better, right? Well... maybe... but you had to know this was coming, right? I mean, you opened up an article about how to lose weight this week.
The fact is, our bodies NEED water. Even if you don't drink the pop (or soda-whatever you call it), you're probably not getting enough H20 in your life.
You can drink infused waters, too. I like to throw some lemon in mine!
Quick tip: Strive for 50-75% of your weight in ounces a day.
Tip #2: This Kitchen is CLOSED
Midnight snacking/after dinner snacking gets us ALL! We turn on The Walking Dead (or whatever your show of choice is, that just happens to be mine!) and grab some munchies and maybe some wine.
Close the kitchen.
Set a rule (you know, just like a diner): The kitchen is closed at ___o'clock.
Oh, I know it is going to be tough. But let's give our bodies some time to digest our food! And once we start getting the hang of it, we'll be golden!
Tip #3: Use Smaller Plates
When we decide to pile the same amount of food on a smaller plate, we get that awesome feeling that we are eating MORE food than we really are. Our eyes are tricky. Trick them back ;-P
Tip #4: Don't Buy It
Chips, m&m's, candy bars, chocolate... whatever it may be...
If you have some in your possession, I want you to walk over to your stash RIGHT NOW... and throw it away.
Now... Go clean out your cat's litter box if you have a cat... change a diaper if you have a kid... empty out the garbage disposal... find something REALLY GROSS to put on top of it.
There is NO taking this back!
Now tell yourself: "I will not buy this."
There ya go! Problem solved!

Tip #5: Do a 3-Day Cleanse
Like all of the tips I've listed, I have done this one as well. Are you going to automatically lose 20 pounds and be at your goal weight?
But this is where this helps:
1.You are going to be able to identify your eating habits. What do you crave? When do you crave it? What do you have a hard time eating.
2. You'll probably lose some weight. I lost 8 pounds the first time I did one, 5 pounds another time, and 3 pounds the last time.
3. You will feel amazing about yourself. Come on! It's just 3 days... anyone can do that, YOU CAN TOO! And after 3 days of going through a quick little program? You're ready to move on to your lifestyle change. It will boost your confidence in yourself, and you'll be ready to kick off the rest of your life (actually, we call this a "kick-starter.")
If you'd like to try the one that I've used in the past, you can get it here. I highly recommend it, and will probably do it again if I fall off track! It has a tendency to get me back on track, and I like to use it especially after holidays!
If you follow these steps, you're probably going to lose a few pounds this week. As always, talk to your doctor first.
And if you try these out, let me know in the comments about your results!
